When attempted to set the timer on Sony NEX-F3 with LCM flipped toward the front, an warning message would appear: Invalid with current Self-portrait Self-timer setting. Set Self-portrait Self-timer to "Off".
Go to Menu -> Setup. Under "Shooting Settings" subgroup, Self-portrait Self-timer option should be there. Change the setting from On to Off.
